Carl A. Giordano is Of Counsel to Notaro, Michalos & Zaccaria P.C., where he combines decades of engineering and intellectual property experience to help clients protect and maximize the value of their technological innovations.

Carl’s intellectual property practice focuses on patent preparation and prosecution, strategic portfolio development, patent evaluation, and intellectual property counseling for technology-driven businesses. He works closely with inventors, engineers, and corporate leadership to develop intellectual property strategies aligned with business objectives. His experience includes advising management on worldwide patent portfolios, trademark protection, copyrights, technology licensing, and intellectual property issues arising in commercial transactions and litigation.

Over the course of his legal career, Carl has prepared and prosecuted patents covering a broad range of technologies, including data storage and storage networks, network management and diagnostics, telecommunications, laser technologies, LCD displays, Internet technologies, and software-based business systems. He has also provided technical analysis and support in patent litigation matters and has negotiated sophisticated software and technology licensing agreements.

Prior to becoming an attorney, Carl was an engineer engaged in the design and development of complex defense and communications technologies, including optical systems, electronic warfare systems, GPS navigation technologies, and satellite communications utilizing TDMA and spread spectrum architectures. His engineering work included the development of an optical cross-connect switching system deployed within the national telecommunications infrastructure and a software-controlled radio system for the United States Army.
