John S. Economou

John Economou has over thirty-five years of legal experience in a broad spectrum of intellectual property matters, including litigation involving television technology, CCTV systems, consumer electronics, angular rate sensors, fiber optic communication systems; patent prosecution involving electronics hardware, software, electro-mechanical, telecommunications, image processing, semiconductor devices, and business method patents; patent portfolio development; patent clearance searches; negotiating and drafting IP license agreements; advising on the IP aspects of corporate transactions and e-commerce; and preparing patent infringement/validity opinions.

John’s legal and engineering experience includes a broad range of technologies, such as cybersecurity software and hardware, bar code processing systems, microwave systems, RFID systems and applications, motors, medical electronics, automotive electronics, cargo shipping systems, telecommunications, semiconductor devices, digital video systems, analog and digital television, digital to analog converters, computer software applications, image processing systems, business methods, industrial process control systems and sensors, and printing press systems. He has also acted as in-house IP counsel for a major cybersecurity company.

Prior to entering private practice, John worked as a hardware design engineer before and while attending law school at two different industrial control/sensor companies.
